I’m really happy to share with you that the rumors are true! AisleBuyer has joined the Intuit team to develop superior solutions to meet the mobile point of sale needs for small business.  By leveraging our technology and talent, together with Intuit’s rock star payments team, we will continue to work on creating the best small business POS solutions in the world.

For the past three years we’ve enjoyed the support and camaraderie of the Boston start-up community. As we embark on this next stage in our evolution, we are lucky to be staying in our offices in the Innovation District, and can’t wait to work with our new friends to create the future of the mobile point of sale payments business. We really appreciate everyone’s support in making this happen. It’s been an amazing ride that we’re excited to take forward.

Meet the AisleBuyer team! This week: Yashwant!

April 3, 2012
By

1. What do you do at AisleBuyer?

I’m the Senior Integration Engineer.

2. What is your favorite part of working for AisleBuyer?

The ideas behind the product.  I like this idea:  mobile shopping, eliminating checkout lines…

3. What is your favorite mobile app and why?

I’d say Mint.com.  It’s pretty organized and I like their graphics and their simplicity.

4. If you could only drink one beer for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?

I’m an equal opportunity beer drinker.  No brand has attracted me, like “this is the one!”

5. If you had your own hot sauce, what would you name it?

I’d name it Try Me! Hot.

6. Of the AisleBuyer team, who would you like to be Beirut partners with the most? The least?

I still don’t know, I can say Meghan maybe as the most!  I have to see everyone’s game first, before I can decide!

7. Would you rather live the rest of your life without music or dessert of any kind?

I like music, but I think I can live without music.  I won’t live without dessert.

8. Describe your personal style in one word.

Liberal.

9. Describe your perfect Saturday afternoon in exactly seven words.

Watching kids swim and relaxing after lunch.

10. Would you rather have hair that never stops growing, or fingernails and toenails that never stop growing and why?

It’s such a weird question; what do you get out of it??  I need hair actually, so I would say hair.

11. Make up a word that describes or embodies your life philosophy.

Keepthingssimple.

12. If you were a superhero, what would your super power and name be?

I think time control.  YashTime.

13. What is your guilty pleasure TV show?

24–it’s so addicting.  I wish it wasn’t archived on Netflix, so I could stop watching it!

Using Consumer Behavior to Build a Mobile Wallet

March 29, 2012
By

American Express released an infographic and data this week revealing how US consumers pay for everyday items and how they feel about emerging payment methods. They divided these consumers into three buckets:

This seems like a reasonable way to group people. In fact, you can probably think of examples of all three types within your own social circle. The trick is using this data to guide your mobile commerce strategy. Or is it impossible to please everyone?

For AisleBuyer, we wanted to make the impossible possible by doing just that: pleasing everyone. We took all three groups of people into consideration in order to develop an application that would appeal to the full range of a company’s customers. The feature list below highlights how each of the archetypes’ concerns were solved in the AisleBuyer Mobile Wallet:

  • The Techie – Mobile Self-Checkout: What does every Techie want? What no one else has. We did just that by providing them with the ability to pay for items on their phones, without having to go to the checkout counter. This is a feature that has not been offered before and will be a driving factor for earlier adopters who are already using other types of mobile payments.
  • The Security Buff – Cloud Data Storage: Are we PCI compliant? Sure. But so is everyone else. The difference is that none of our data is stored on the phone. And since it doesn’t require a credit card swipe, no encryption is needed. The Security Buff’s credit card information is available right when he or she needs it, but if the phone ever gets stolen no one can access the data.
  • The Budget Boss – Virtual Receipts: Is there anything more annoying than sorting (and if you’re extreme enough, filing) receipts? For the budget conscious out there, virtual receipts make the world a better place. You can see them on your phone, send them to your email address where they can be categorized and filed, or even share them on Facebook so you can brag to your friends about how much you’ve saved.

Absorb this data, and instead of thinking that certain groups won’t use mobile, think of the features that will make their lives easier. Smartphone purchases are on the rise and persuading the naysayers becomes easier every day with a well-thought out mobile strategy.

Meet the AisleBuyer team! This week: Taylor!

March 27, 2012
By

1.  What do you do at AisleBuyer?

I do mobile development with Ryan Eldridge.

2.  What is your favorite part of working for AisleBuyer?

It’s pretty chill.  The culture is my favorite part of working here.  The people, the product—it’s a very good idea and it seems like something that could be the standard for mobile shopping in the future.

3.  What is your favorite mobile app and why?

Google Music because it is really easy to use—it’s such an elegant implementation and everything works perfectly.  And I’m listening to music all the time.  It’s on Android too.

4.  If you could only drink one beer for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?

I just turned 21 not too long ago!  Stella Artois.  Do we have that one here??

5.  If you had your own hot sauce, what would you name it?

Taylor’s Super Hot Fire Sauce.

6.  Of the AisleBuyer team, who would you like to be Beirut partners with the most? The least?

Who’s pretty tall here?  Scott Almeida or Shawn because they’re both pretty tall people.  And I guess the least would be Dan Hore.

7.  Would you rather live the rest of your life without music or dessert of any kind?

Dessert of any kind.

8.  Describe your personal style in one word.

Efficient.

9.  Describe your perfect Saturday afternoon in exactly seven words.

I play golf at Pebble Beach.

10.  Would you rather have hair that never stops growing, or fingernails and toenails that never stop growing and why?

I’d rather look like a gorilla in that case–if they’re all continuously growing.  I don’t know if I could deal with that.

11.  Make up a word that describes or embodies your life philosophy.

Brotastic.

12.  If you were a superhero, what would your super power and name be?

It would be to be able to run at the speed of light.  I’d be The Shock.

13.  What is your guilty pleasure TV show?

Top Gear.
